J McLennan Bursary College Scholarship Info for Undergraduate Studies

At College Scholarship Info the discretion of the University, the annual interest may be reinvested to maintain the value of the capital fund, in which case no Bursary shall be awarded in that year.
Recipients may hold the Bursary more than once but must reapply on each occasion.

International PhD College Scholarship Info


The College Scholarship Info is tenable for up to 3 years for a PhD (via MPhil route) [subject to satisfactory progress] and is open to international applicants only. UK/EU applicants are not eligible to apply. The College Scholarship Info will provide £15000 towards the cost of the International tuition fee over 3 years.
The aim of the research is to investigate and develop a decision-support system (based on RFID, real-time location and wireless communication) capable of informing command and control centres of fire fighters (and other emergency personnel and equipment) that have been despatched to an incident. The system will also allow command and control centres to manage the resources deployed. The College Scholarship Info work will involve collaboration with some Emergency Services in the UK and the University of Central Lancashire. Although the ultimate goal of the larger research is to develop a robust and versatile system (hardware, firmware and software) that can be deployed in general emergency situations, the aspect that is the subject of this advertisement will focus specifically on applications of the technology to fire services and will address the following tasks and associated challenges:
- Developing a device management and event processing platform/system that integrates the edge (incident frontline) and the back-end (the workflow foundation).
- Development of a management system that will allow the allocation of resources in a mobile and dynamic command and control environment.
- Creating a declarative emergency rules engine for the purpose of inferring, correlating, and executing emergency decisions based on incoming real-time event traffic.

College Scholarship Study Doctoral Studentships

The School offers its own Studentships for research (doctoral) degree study (MPhil/PhD). In 2011-12 we expect to offer up to two research (doctoral) degree Studentships, for commencing October 2011. he School Studentships are funded at the full UK Research Council rate for London-based students. In addition to fees, the rates for maintenance in 2010-11 are given below as a guide: Research students: £15,590 full-time and £9,355 part-time. It is not at present clear whether this will increase or remain the same for 2011-12. Students assessed for fees at the overseas rate will be required to pay the difference between the Overseas and Home/EU fee. Only if you have been offered a place by the Institute in which you wish to study, and you have accepted it, are you eligible to submit an application for funding. Eligible students can apply both for AHRC and School doctoral studentships using the combined application form. Students applying to all funding strands need only complete one form.
Eligibility: School Doctoral Studentships cover fees and maintenance allowance at the full UK Research Council rate for London-based students. Studentships can be awarded to Home/EU or Overseas students and can be for full-time or part-time study. Only those students beginning their first year of study in 2011/12 are eligible.
